CultureLink Art Exhibition by Linkedln at Afrotech 2022

I am over thrilled to have been contacted by Linkedln as they are curating an intimate art show in Austin to celebrate black culture while highlighting local black artists.

The premise is an exploration of black freedom and joy in an equal and equitable world. It’s big, it’s bold, and it could be beautiful - if done correctly. It's called Culture Link Art Exhibition That is why they would like to commission a piece of art from me as it would make an incredible addition to elevate the show.

They asked me to shortly elaborate on my answer to the question: What does economic freedom in the Black community mean to you?

Here is my answer:

For me, and as reflected in this artwork, Economic freedom in the Black community means an economy where people are free, with no restrictions on work, production, consumption, and investments. An Economy that allows Black individuals to buy what they want, to choose their occupation, employer, and job location. It's all about empowering Black/Latina individuals and ensuring real, lasting progress for them by unleashing greater opportunities. Economic Freedom in the Black Community is key to a dynamic future that will benefit all Americans. A future in which :

  • -Black workers are no longer underrepresented in the tech industry.

  • Black people can take up space, move up, and thrive in Big Tech, with more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workspaces.

  • Companies and organizations advance Black talent in tech and digital careers.

  •  there are opportunities and rewards for the hard work each individual invests in.

  • Black women have more and more opportunities in the tech and gaming industries.

  • there will be vast economic opportunities for the Black community, a generation of potential entrepreneurs, in environments that can generate private investment and growth.
